Step 2: Pre-Mediation Consultation
Once you’re ready to begin, we’ll schedule a one-hour pre-mediation consultation. This session is designed to provide clarity and direction as we prepare for the mediation process.
Here’s what we’ll do:
Discuss Your Goals in Depth: Address topics privately and gain a clear understanding of what’s ahead.
Outline the Process: I’ll explain how mediation works, what to expect, and the steps involved.
Provide a Homework Checklist: You’ll leave with clear next steps and a better sense of how to move forward.
For many, this session offers a sense of relief. It’s a chance to be heard, reflect, and create a clear pathway toward resolution.
Step 3: Mediation Sessions
Mediation sessions focus on working through the issues unique to your divorce in a collaborative, respectful environment.
What We’ll Cover:
Parenting Plans (if applicable): Create a detailed custody and visitation schedule that prioritizes your children’s well-being.
Assets and Debts: Divide property, retirement accounts, and shared debts in a fair, transparent way.
Support Agreements: Discuss child or spousal support with guidance to reduce stress and conflict.
Other Topics: Address tax filings, living arrangements, or other concerns specific to your situation.
With my guidance, these sessions feel manageable and productive, helping you reach agreements without unnecessary conflict.
Step 4: Memorandum of Understanding (MOU)
Once you’ve resolved all key issues, I’ll draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). This document outlines every aspect of your agreement, including:
Asset division.
Parenting plans (if applicable).
Financial agreements (support, taxes, etc.).
The MOU is the foundation for finalizing your divorce, streamlining the legal process and reducing costs.
